Austeel Industries Pty Ltd has been a market leader in the Prefabricated, Modular & Transportable Building Industry and has been servicing clients throughout Queensland and Northern NSW for over 35 years.  Our client’s range across a wide span of industries and markets, including hire companies, small businesses, short term accommodation, residential construction, music festivals and other major events.

About the Opportunity

We have been growing extremely rapidly over the past two years, and in line with our growth we have recently made the move toward providing upskilling opportunities for our staff.  Currently we have three apprentices on our team and are now seeking a qualified carpenter with strong experience in steel framed structures who can help share the load of mentoring and training our apprentices, as well as operate as an effective player within our production team.

As such, this role is exclusively for a trade qualified carpenter, however, we have other roles available in our production team for general trades assistants and skilled building workers.

Primary activities will be in our production workshop; assembling new steel framed transportable and modular buildings, as well as mentoring and developing our apprentices into confident, capable tradespeople.

While we primarily hire for attitude and fit with our company values, there are some skillsets that will be highly valued for this specific role:

  • Erecting and assembling steel framed transportable and modular building units
  • Fitting out buildings with doors, windows, air conditioning units and other accessories
  • Reading and understanding technical drawings and specifications
  • Leadership, mentoring and setting an example for others
  • Completing tasks in a timely and accurate manner with a high attention to detail
  • Helping to develop the skills and sign off requirements of apprentices.
  • Be flexible to perform other duties within the workshop environment when required
